vintage dc: when halloween turns bad

Our senior year at SCAD we decided it would be a great idea to dress as alien housewives for Halloween. We stayed in the night before to prepare our costumes... we bought matching waitress dresses from the thrift store, sewed ourselves some metallic aprons, made little doodles for our hair... we got really prepared. We were super excited and thought we would surely be the hit of the night. The day of Halloween we took it a little too far and things turned for the worst. We had decided to spray paint our short locks (we basically had the same haircut) hot pink and we also decided to paint our faces and arms green-- with actual paint. Needless to say, it didn't go over too well. The paint on our faces and arms almost immediately started peeling and the color just made us look sick. I think I also stained my friends carpet with my pink hairspray. Our friends didn't want anything to do with us and we looked extremely unattractive at the end of the bar by ourselves. Despite the shocked looks and scaly reptile skin that lasted a few weeks we still managed to have a good time.

Moral of the story: choose your costume wisely. Halloween hasn't been the same since.
